When you need it
China needs proof of who the parent is and who the child is. You are in Canada. The birth certificate, hukou or older ID you have does not match the receiving office’s list. Typical uses:

Process for Ontario documents
Ask the housing bureau, notary office, civil-affairs bureau or bank in China what template they want, how many originals, and how names must appear.
Miao He drafts or revises so the authority, names and subject matter match what the receiving office will accept.
Documents that require a signature are signed once at the Markham office. Miao He is a commissioned Ontario Notary Public and notarizes on the spot. Court-issued documents usually go straight to ODS.
Ontario-issued or Ontario-notarized documents receive an Apostille from Official Documents Services. Federal documents (for example an RCMP criminal-record check) go to Global Affairs Canada.
Collect the apostilled original and send it to China, or have your agent file it there.

Q: I already have a Canadian birth certificate. Do I still need this?
A: It depends on the receiving office. Some want an apostilled birth certificate; some want a parent’s declaration; an inheritance notary in China may want both. Miao He drafts to the other side’s list so you do not file the wrong document.
